If you have tried to find a parking space in the Southwest Garage lately, you may have spent a considerable amount of time and increased your stress level. Parking demand on campus has increased dramatically this year with more events, increased numbers of visitors, and more non-traditional students who drive into campus for their one class or evening program. Restrictions placed on us by the District of Columbia government prevent us from increasing the number of parking spaces on campus.
About 100 parking spaces go unused daily in the Harris Garage at Whitehaven Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Beginning immediately, we will offer a significantly discounted parking rate to any current parker whose office is on Main or Medical Campus and who volunteers to park at the Harris Garage and take the GUTS shuttle to campus. (You may also choose to walk when the weather is good because the exercise is free and good for you.)
Rather than paying $143.30 or $131.36 monthly, volunteers will pay only $53.74 a month to park at the Harris Garage. There is no charge to ride the shuttle; you only need to show your GU ID to board. Schedules are posted on the OTM web site. This incentive is available only to those who currently park on campus and relinquish their on-campus parking space by 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 15.
Please be reminded that carpoolers also benefit from reduced parking fees. Two-person carpoolers each pay $47.84 per month; 3-person carpoolers each pay $31.88 per month, and 4-person carpoolers park free of charge. OTM can help you locate other faculty and staff who live near you so you can have company as you travel and benefit from greatly reduced charges.
If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity before it expires at 4:00 PM on October 15, please visit the Office of Transportation Management on the Mezzanine Level of the Southwest Garage.

Change in Dupont GUTS route:
All Dupont GUTS buses will travel on Massachusetts Avenue to and from the Dupont Metro station beginning Monday, April 7, 2008.
To respond to community concerns the Dupont GUTS route will follow the non-rush hour route along Massachusetts Avenue, rather than the current rush hour route through the Georgetown neighborhood.
No change to the posted GUTS schedule is anticipated.
February 27, 2008
To ease congestion at the North Road GUTS bus stop, the Law Center bus stop will be moved to the intersection of Prospect Street and Tondorf Road on the corner between the parking booth and O’Donovan Hall. Signs will be posted. This change will be effective on Monday, March 3, 2008. The Rosslyn and Arlington Loop bus stops will remain unchanged.
This move is part of our continuing efforts to improve pedestrian and vehicular safety throughout the campus. We regret any inconvenience this change may cause. All drivers and pedestrians are reminded to be alert and considerate of all members of our campus community when walking or driving in this area. Questions may be addressed to Bob Robinson at robinsrt@georgetown.edu.

To further enhance pedestrian safety on campus, several GUTS routes will
be changed to reduce vehicular traffic in an area of campus heavily
traveled by pedestrians. After wide consultation with faculty, staff
and students, the Office of Transportation Management will change the
pick up and drop off locations of the Rosslyn, Arlington and Law Center
shuttles effective Monday, November 26.
Effective November 26th, the Rosslyn, Arlington and Law Center buses
will no longer travel on Tondorf Road between the Leavey Center and the
Southwest Quad. Those shuttles will enter campus at Canal Road and stop
at the Southwest Quad on the North Road (across from Harbin Field), then
exit at Prospect Street. (Click here for the location of the North Road stop.) Stops at the Leavey Center and O'Donovan Hall
will be eliminated. No changes will be made to the schedule.
No changes will be made to the Dupont or Wisconsin Avenue shuttle routes
or schedules. Buses will continue to enter the campus from Reservoir
Road, stop at Henle Village, then exit to Reservoir Road.
Though we understand that the changes will not be as convenient for
everyone as the current routes, we believe that safety warrants the
changes. We thank those who have helped us think through these changes
and appreciate the cooperation of the University community as we
implement them. If you have any questions, you may contact Diann Nock
Smith, Director of the Office of Transportation Management, at
otm@georgetown.edu.
